Movies made in the United States often get translated and brought to other countries. However, when you translate anything, sometimes it doesn't quite sound like it should! Some of the most popular movies in America just don't sound the same in other countries. Check out some of these hilarious translations. You won't believe what some of these movies are called in other countries. Some of the titles even give away the plot of the entire movie! See which one is your favorite in the list below: Star Wars - The War of the Stars or The War of the Galaxies Star Wars / Lucasfilm This one is pretty straight forward, although it does sound kind of funny! The War of the Stars is the French title and The War of the Galaxies is Spanish. Free Willy - A Very Powerful Whale Runs to Heaven Free Willy / Warner Bros. Free Willy is one of those classic kid's movies that makes you laugh and cry. The Chinese title says that the whale runs, not jumps, to heaven. This kind of gives some things away. The Sixth Sense - He's a Ghost! The Sixth Sense / Hollywood Pictures Another title that gives away the twist is He's a Ghost! You may know that Haley Joel Osment's character is dead the whole time in The Sixth Sense, but those in China will never experience the shock. Very interesting. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - The Boy Drowned in the Chocolate Sauce Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory / David L. Wolper Productions Denmark gives this classic film a strange title. Leaving Las Vegas - I’m Drunk and You’re a Prostitute Leaving Las Vegas / United Artists This classic Nicolas Cage film has a hilarious title in Japan. The film is not a comedy, but Cage does play an alcoholic and his co-star does play a prostitute. So, I guess it is accurate at least. Grease - Vaseline Grease / Paramount Pictures Everyone loves the classic movie Grease. But, in Argentina, it translates to Vaseline. Not quite right... I mean, Vaseline Lightning anyone? Jaws - The Teeth of the Sea Jaws / Universal Pictures Jaws is a classic scary movie. In France, they call it The Teeth of the Sea, which just doesn't have the same ring to it. Home Alone - Mom, I Missed the Plane Home Alone / 20th Century Fox This is another French title. Apparently, they interpreted the movie as Kevin missing the plane, not as his family leaving him behind! Airplane! - The Incredible Journey in a Crazy Plane Airplane! / Paramount Pictures Airplane! is another classic film that captured audiences in America with its one-word title. In Germany, they went for a longer title. Italy called it The Craziest Plane in the World and Peru called it Is There a Pilot on This Plane? Which foreign film title is your favorite?
