When it comes to superstitions, we all have our own little sets of beliefs we follow because there are things we believe are lucky or unlucky. Whether we avoid ladders or shiver when we accidentally crack a mirror, even the toughest of the tough have a little something that rings true when it comes to the superstitious arts. Here’s the thing though: some people are a little more sensitive to superstitions than others. They may insist on carrying a lucky charm with them wherever they go or have a ritual they follow in certain circumstances. Heck, they might even inconvenience their, and many other people’s, day just because of their strong belief in some otherworldly stroke of bad juju. It might seem a little intense, but to them, it’s pretty serious stuff. Celebrities are no exception here. There are actually many celebs that won’t go near the possibility of bad luck with a 30-foot pole, and they’ll take some pretty extreme lengths to keep it at bay. You might even be surprised by what some of these celebs will do to keep the bad vibes far, far away from them. Read on to figure out which celebs are the most superstitious of them all. 1. Star Jones Won’t Let Her Finances Drop…Literally You know how there are hooks on some tables at bars and restaurants to hang your purse on? Well, they aren’t there entirely for hygiene purposes, they’re there for superstitious purposes too. Star Jones agrees, as she never allows her purse to go anywhere near the floor ever. As a lawyer, fashion designer, television personality, journalist, and writer, Jones has a bunch of money to lose over a stupid thing like superstition, so she doesn’t risk it. Jones believes that if you put your purse on the ground it is bad for your finances and that you will not only lose your money in that moment, but you will also struggle with money all of your life. Heidi Klum Carries Baby Teeth On The Regular I’m just going to out and say it—Heidi Klum carries her baby teeth around with her! It’s gross. Why on earth would you want your old teeth to be your good luck charm? Well, Klum believes that they, in fact, keep her out of harm’s way, especially when she’s on the go or in the air. It just seems a little odd that she has literally been carrying these around for decades with her. Could you imagine catching a glimpse of these in passing? However, Klum is known for being a little offbeat. James McAvoy Summons A White Rabbit Why does anyone need to integrate a white rabbit into their lives? Well, just ask Scottish actor James McAvoy because it’s a must for him. For starters, the Scotts are one of the most superstitious people on the planet, so it’s really no surprise that he has some sort of crazy superstition to live by, and he actually had a mentor that taught him many of the superstitions he still lives with today. The one that is the most important to him is his white rabbit. On the first day of every month, McAvoy must say “white rabbit” to the first person he sees, which could get a bit awkward, as you can clearly imagine. He claims it brings him good luck. Cuba Gooding Jr. Stays Mysterious About Getting Lucky There are people that believe that a good luck charm only works if no one knows about it, and Cuba Gooding Jr. is one of those people. Yes, he has either a special routine or object that he has that brings him luck, but he won’t spill the beans about it. He has said on multiple occasions that he owes all of his good luck and fortune to this mysterious charm but he would never reveal what it was—or maybe who it is. Interviewers have been pretty persistent in trying to get it out of him, but he has never seemed to relent whatsoever. Leighton Meester Has Some Magical Shoes Leighton Meester’s lucky charm is exactly what you’d expect from a Gossip Girl. She claims it was a pair of shoes that helped her land the part of Blaire Waldorf and that additionally gives her all of her luck. She had just moved to New York from Los Angeles to audition for the part and all of her clothing was packed away. Then she saw them in a store window. A pair of red, leopard-print Marc Jacobs shoes, and the second she tried them on, she just felt the luck surging through her. From there on out, she wears them whenever she needs a little extra luck. The funny thing about them was she couldn’t afford rent her first month in New York when she bought the shoes, but she got the part. Not sure it’s such a great charm, but who am I to judge? This belt, in particular, was a gift from his father, Eamonn Farrel, and it has been with him so long to literally start falling apart. In fact, he has spent over £3,000 over the years for repairs and restorations over the years for this belt if you can believe it. He has also had many holes punched in his belt for all of his weight fluctuations for various roles he’s played throughout his career. There is a word that he has another charm though, a pair of boxer shorts with some shamrocks on them that also says “The luck of the Irish". How is cliché that? Oh, Colin, you are just adorable. Yes, he is known for his hard work, talent, and dedication, but he believed that only took him so far in the game. Therefore, he wore the exact same pair of shorts underneath his Chicago Bulls uniform during every single game he played, kind of like an unofficial uniform for lack of better words. These weren’t just any regular shorts either, these were his old blue North Carolina shorts he had since his college days (ew). Axl Rose Won’t Rock Out With The Letter M Only Axl Rose would have a problem playing shows in cities that begin with the letter M. I guess Memphis had to take to the road in order to catch a quality Guns N’ Roses show—bummer. This was during the time of the rock star though. Nothing was too grand and outrageous for these guys during their peak time in fame. They basically got to do whatever they wanted, so if they didn’t want to play cities starting with the letter M—they didn’t. It was also said that Axl Rose believed that he and his ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Seymour were lovers in a previous life, and he reportedly sees psychics on the regular, especially when his band is touring. Jessica Alba Protects Her Children A Little Too Much When it comes to her children, Jessica Alba takes her superstitions very, very seriously. In fact, the actress threw a baby shower for her daughter and everything seemed as normal as could be…until she gave party favors to her guests. They were special leather bracelets that were engraved with a prayer—seemed innocent enough until she told them that they couldn’t take them off until her daughter was born. Ok, things just got weird. She claimed the prayer and the bracelets will combine with the energy of the loved ones wearing them they will protect her unborn child from any possible harm. Christian Bale Provokes The Dark Side When it comes to superstitions, Christian Bale likes to live on the wild side and provoke bad luck. If there is a ladder standing around, you better believe Mr. Bale is walking under it. Why? He claims, “I do all that stuff. I do it on purpose.” In a way, this is a form of being superstitious because he does believe in the superstitions by provoking them. Think of it as being reverse superstitious. So far, nothing awful has happened to him, but what if the fates are saving up for something awful? Then again, he has a pretty amazing acting career, so it’s not like things are going poorly for him. In fact, they are going the opposite of poorly. Missy Elliott Won’t Cross A Black Cat Yes, Missy Elliott is one if not the most successful female rappers of all time, and maybe that’s because she doesn’t go anywhere near any black cats. In fact, if she sees one walking down the street, not only will she not cross its path but she will high tail it home. She has even stated that she doesn’t care if it inconveniences herself or others in the process, but she won’t go out until she feels she’s safe from harm’s way. How long is that? Only Elliott knows the answer to that conundrum. Who knows, maybe she owes her rap career to all that good juju she’s given herself. Jennifer Aniston Has A Pre-Flight Ritual Many people are afraid of flying, and Jennifer Aniston is no exception. There are so many coping mechanisms to getting on a flight—charms, breathing practices, closing your eyes, but Aniston has an actual ritual she does while boarding a flight in order to get her jitters away. First, she must enter the flight with her right foot first, this means she actually has to check her footing before entering the flight, then she has to tap the outside of the plane with her hand. Imagine how much of a pain that is if she’s boarding a flight tunnel with the rest of the passengers. Then again—she’s Jennifer freaking Aniston. Lady Gaga Claims Promiscuity Drains Creativity Lady Gaga has a ton of hits, so maybe she’s not too far off on this one. She believes that promiscuous sex leads to a lack of creativity, and in her word that means no money, no fame, and no hits. What’s a girl to do other than limit the guests invited into her bedroom? Since she is so creative in all of her words, songs, outfits, and antics, I suppose it’s safe to say that she isn’t having a whole lot of guests in her room after hours. If she is right, hopefully, she stays true to her belief because her hits just keep on coming, and who wants to see them stop? Yeah, Keith Richards insists that there must be shepherd’s pie at every single show that The Rolling Stones play so he can eat it before the show. That’s a whole lot of the stuff since those guys are literally always on the road and have been for most of their lives. You’d think he’d get downright sick of the stuff, honestly. Not only that but Richards has to be the one that breaks the crust! If anyone else does it, it doesn’t count. The pie is useless, and a new one must be brought to him immediately. Cameron Diaz Lives Life Charmed Cameron Diaz is superstitious on many different levels. She knocks on wood all day long for starters, she’s even been known to knock on her head if the wood isn’t around to knock on. But she’s really known to wear a number of good luck charms for many different reasons as well, and she always makes sure to have them all on. The most important is a necklace she was given a long time ago that she believes has the ability to ward off aging. Based off her looks, you’d never be able to tell she was 42-years-old, so it appears to be working, or she has some pretty flawless genes.
