Fame can either make or break things. It is a delicate matter that often requires a mature way of handling. It was no different for these child stars who made a name early on in life. They did go down the pit, but fortunately, some were successfully able to make a way back to normal life. 1. Lindsay Lohan Wikimedia Commons She first appeared on screen at the tender age of 7. But she came into the limelight after her role in The Parent Trap in the year 1998. However, her biggest breakthrough was the lead role in Mean Girls. She became the public's favorite and achieved international attention. But as they say, 'the higher you climb, the harder you fall.' Lohan's fall was quite dramatic and eventful. With several jail visits to going back and forth from rehabs, her life has been one roller coaster ride post her on-screen appearances. Her list of falling into legal troubles runs long. She was charged with a felony for theft of a necklace. She was also charged with four criminal charges, all on the same day. Arrested for the possession of drugs without a prescription, Culkin made news that grabbed everybody's attention. The cute boy from the famous Home Alone series was nowhere to be seen. Culkin emerged as a completely different person. However, he has currently found love in Disney star, Brenda Song. And love works wonder for anyone and everyone! 3. But despite his initial success in the commercial business, Feldman felt it as nothing more than "child slavery." Having an unsteady and allegedly abusive childhood, Feldman took to drugs to ease the pain. With an absentee father and a reportedly abusive mother, Feldman grew distant from family life and was living on his by the age of 15. His battle with substance abuse was only beginning. It started out with marijuana and alcohol. From there it was a swift climb to cocaine and later, heroin. For this, he was arrested 3 times. Although he claims to be sober lately, he has made quite a few headlines, and all for not do good reasons. But it's not all gloomy. In November of 2016, Feldman got married to his longtime girlfriend, Courtney Anne. 4. Jodie Sweetin Nickiswift Another celebrity that went off track post success as a child star is Jodie Sweetin. In order to cope with happening in life, she took to alcohol and substance abuse and mad partying. Later, she went on to publish a memoir called Unsweetened in which she described her ordeal growing up. In it she lays bare all the gut-wrenching encounters with cocaine, ecstasy and alcohol abuse. She married thrice and has two daughters, one from the first and one from the third husband. Love doesn't seem to be on cards for her as her fourth engagement to Justin Hodak, a convicted felon fell flat. 5. Mackenzie Phillips Wikimedia Commons Nickiswift Phillips let out all the truth on September 2009 on Oprah about her consensual sexual relations with her father, John Phillips, The Mamas and Papas rocker. Despite contrasting claims from the rest of her family, Phillips alleged that she chose to continue her relationship with her father after he raped her at the age of 18. Her life has been topsy-turvy and her sisters and stepmother doubted her claims by stating that Mackenzie had always battled with mental illness and substance abuse. 6.Brian Bonsall Nickiswift His talented acting in Family Ties (1982-89) and Blank Check (1994) indicated the immense potential for Bonsall as a child artist and beyond. However, life went downhill after Bonsall indulged in certain activities that got him into serious legal troubles. He threw alcohol at his then-girlfriend, attacked a friend with a broken stool and indulged in alcohol abuse. He stayed out of focus for quite some time after receiving proper care. But in 2017 he was back in the news after a serial rapist impersonated him. 7.Jake Lloyd Nickiswift Lloyd became famous as the little Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode I—The Phantom Menace (1999). However, his fame was short lived. As an adult of 24 years, he led the police on a car chase that ended in an accident. He was later served a prison sentence for the same. In 2016, Llyod was taken to a mental hospital in order to treat him for schizophrenia. Although, his date of release is not reported yet, his fans and family wish the best for him. 8. Orlando Brown Nicki Swift Orlando Brown starred in the famous That's So Raven (2003-07) TV series. But his life as an adult has been marked by one controversy after another and there really doesn't seem a silver lining. He was arrested in 2011 on a DUI charge for which he was given 180 days behind the bar. Following this, Brown became infamous for not complying to court order, abusing girlfriend, threatening to kill a woman and her child and possession of meth. He also went on to make some indecent remarks about his former co-star Raven-Symone. 9. Edward Furlong Nickiswift Furlong's life as an adult has nothing but highly eventful. His big break as young John Connor in Terminator 2 (1991) was followed by a series of arrests, violations and abuses as an adult. He had to be sent to rehab for a number of reasons like driving under the influence, driving without license,and drug overdose. His marriage with Rachael Bella from The Ring (2002) fell apart only 3 years after later. He was put under a restraining order by Bella, which he reportedly violated. In 2016, Furlong was seen with actress Monica Keena with whom also he shared an abusive relationship.
