A major aspect of any great James Bond film is the presence of a tantalizing Bond Girl. These women often serve as sex objects, but also major characters opposite of the protagonist, Bond, James Bond. Let's rewind and look at seven of the most memorable and glamorous Bond Girls of all-time! We start with the first-ever film in the franchise, Dr. No (1962). Ursula Andress - Honey Ryder in Dr. No (1962) Left: © 1962 Columbia Pictures; Right: Wikimedia Commons Ursula Andress was the inaugural Bond Girl! Her character Honey Ryder grabbed ahold of audiences around the world as she stepped out of the sea wearing her iconic white bikini, adorned with a large hunting knife. Honey Rider was primarily used as a wounded character that needed protection from Bond, then played by legendary actor, Sean Connery. After her Bond film, Ursula once again entered the Bond Universe by being part of Casino Royale (1967), a spoof of the Bond Franchise. She also was in 1981's Clash of the Titans as Aphrodite. The scandalous name was an original Ian Fleming character from the novel. Pussy Galore was a stunning pilot whose personal feelings for James Bond complicated her involvement in Goldfinger's ultimate plans. Before portraying this iconic Bond Girl, Blackman was known for her work in The Avengers series, from 1962-1964. Shirley Eaton - Jill Masterson in Goldfinger (1964) Left: © Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.; Right: Wikimedia Commons Shirley Eaton played Jill Masterson, an accomplice to Goldfinger's cheating at cards. After James Bond, still played by Sean Connery, catches her in the act, they work together to blackmail Goldfinger. Eaton's Bond Girl was killed by Goldfinger's henchman in return for her betrayal. Bond finds her covered in gold paint and dead on the bed. Although she is the second Bond Girl from this movie, her golden imagery is perhaps the most recognizable portrait from the film. After her golden opportunity in this Bond film, Eaton followed it up the following year with her role in Ten Little Indians alongside Hugh O'Brian. She effectively used her sex appeal as a weapon, and after making love with Bond, takes him captive. Her ultimate demise is the end result, however. While dancing with James Bond, a bullet meant for Bond strikes Fiona instead. Paluzzi goes down as the archetype of a villainous Bond Girl. Post-Bond, Italian-born Paluzzi continued acting mainly in Italy until 1978. Her most known film outside of Thunderball was The Green Slime in 1968. Diana Rigg - Tracy di Vicenzo in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) Left:© 1969 - MGM; Right: © 2016 HBO Diana makes this list because she made the essential bachelor in James Bond, beg her to marry him. So important that she became Tracy Bond by the end of the film. Unfortunately for Rigg's Bond Franchise-hopes, she encounters an ill-fated assassination. Diana Rigg was one of the more successful post-Bond actresses. Similar to Honor Blackman, Rigg appeared in The Avengers from 1965-1968. Rigg also landed a huge role as Olenna Tyrell, the matriarch of the House Tyrell in HBO's hit show, Game of Thrones (2013-2017). Jane Seymour - Solitaire in Live and Let Die (1973) Left: © 1973 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.; Right: Wikimedia Commons Seymour's character from Live and Let Die was a tarot card reader, imprisoned by Kananga because he knew that if she lost her virginity, she would lose her psychic ability. She drew the lovers card when reading Bond's cards, and soon lost her powers accordingly. Solitaire was one of the more passive Bond Girls, but at only 20-years-old was one of the younger more inexperienced Bond Girls. After Solitaire, Jane Seymour starred in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman from 1993 to 1998. She also had a large comedic role in the hit comedy Wedding Crashers (2005). Therefore, Jinx entered the movie in the Ursula Andress style, striding out of the ocean with a hunting knife attached to her belt. Jinx enjoyed risking her life and getting into danger, much in the same vein as Bond. It is a match made in heaven, with Bond being portrayed by Pierce Brosnan.
