I used one of these at my first job at Coles, and boy, you needed tough fingers to and no long fingernails to properly work these! I bet the lines at the store would be ridiculous if people still had to figure out these things at the counter, and please don't tell me you have a coupon AFTER I've finished punching in everything! 3. Typewriter Public Domain Pictures Before the days of computers, there were typewriters. Boy, were they loud! There was the clicking of the keys, the sound it made when you moved to a new line, and the noise that happened when you ripped out the paper. You definitely knew when someone was using one. Rotary dial telephone Wikipedia Smartphones are now relatively quiet, with optional dialing sounds. In the past, there was the rotary dial phone that made noise every time you dialed a number. It was the worst when you messed up and had to start over! 5. Records Pixabay Ah, the sound of a needle on a vinyl record. It was literally music to our ears. 6. Chalkboards Max Pixel Okay, this may be a sound you want to forget forever. The sound of chalk or nails on a chalkboard? The absolute worst! Good thing schools generally use whiteboards these days. 7. Pencil Sharpener Flickr Speaking of school, do you remember the sounds of the old school pencil sharpeners? It was always the best getting that perfect pointed pencil. 8.
