Honey, I Shrunk The Kids\u00a0is a 1989 family comedy about \u2014 well, the title is pretty self explanatory. The film sees Rick Moranis starring as an inventor who shrinks his own two children along with neighbourhood kids until they\u2019re only a quarter of an inch high. Then, he has to somehow figure out how to reverse that process and restore them to their normal size. But what are the cast up to nowadays? Let\u2019s take a look! 1. Rick Moranis (AKA Wayne Szalinski) Disney \/ Getty Images Moranis played the ever struggling inventor Wayne Szalinski, who invents a rather unfortunate creation that turns his children and their friends miniature. Previously, the actor had played popular comedy roles in movies such as\u00a0Little Shop of Horrors,\u00a0Ghostbusters, and\u00a0Spaceballs. Moranis has since given up his acting days in 1997 after being widowed, so he could focus on raising his children. He was nominated for a Grammy Award thanks to a musical comedy record of his creation \u2013 \u2018The Acrophobic Cowboy\u2019. He might reprise his role as Louis Tully for a future Ghostbusters film, though nothing has been confirmed as of yet. His retirement has also sparked sung\u00a0video parodies\u00a0and even\u00a0Facebook campaigns. 2. Amy O\u2019Neill (AKA Amy Szalinski) Disney \/ Getty Images O\u2019Neill played Szalinski\u2019s teen daughter Amy, who become one of the miniturised children. Before that, she had a regular role on\u00a0The Young and the Restless, a soap opera. Since then, she has also given up acting after she wasn\u2019t too happy with the fact that a lot of the adult roles she was being offered required nudity. After continuing her role as Amy in the sequel\u00a0Honey, I Blew Up The Kids, she is now a performance artist and expert stilt walker at the circus. She also starred in\u00a0The Japanese Sandman, a 2008 indie film. 3. Marcia Strassman (AKA Diane Szalinski) Disney \/ Getty Images Strassman appeared in the film as Diane, Wayne\u2019s sympathetic wife. Before this, she\u2019d been a singer, and played famous role Julie Knotter in the 70s sitcom,\u00a0Welcome Back, Knotter. Since then, Strassman continued to act on TV \u2013 starring in shows such as\u00a0Tremors, a 2003 Sci-Fi Channel series, and was last seen on TV in 2006 in the sitcom\u00a0Twenty Good Years. Sadly she passed away following a battle with breast cancer back in 2014. 4. Thomas Wilson Brown (AKA Russ Thompson, Jr.) Disney \/ Getty Images Brown played Russ Thompson in the movie, a teenage neighbour who crushes on Amy. Before this, Brown was the son of a cattle rancher and was first seen in the 1985 Western\u00a0Silverado, as he was great at riding a horse thanks to his past. Since then, he\u2019s been seen in a small role in\u00a0Urban Justice\u00a0in 2007. He was also in\u00a0The Mooring, a horror flick, in 2012. 5. Robert Oliveri (Nick Szalinski) Disney \/ Getty Images Oliveri played the Szalinski\u2019s youngest son, Nick. The year after starring in the movie, he played the part of another little brother as Kevin in\u00a0Edward Scissorhands. Since then, he\u2019s starred in the\u00a0Honey, I Blew Up The Audience\u00a0short in 1994. It would be his last appearance on the big screen \u2013 he then graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta and is currently living in Florida. He and his wife have a daughter, but no recent pics of the ex-actor can be found! 6. Matt Frewer (AKA Russ Thompson, Sr.) Disney \/ Getty Images Frewer played Russ Thompson, Sr., who didn\u2019t at all believe in any of the shrinking antics, even when it involved his two kids! Before that, Frewer was well known for playing the AI character Max Headroom, who appeared in adverts, movies, and a TV show in the 80s. He now has two recurring sci-fi roles in both\u00a0Eureka\u00a0and\u00a0Falling Skies. He also appeared as a cancer patient character in\u00a050\/50. 7. Jared Rushton (AKA Ron Thompson) Disney \/ Getty Images Rushton played Ron Thompson, who inadvertently starts the shrink ray going by hitting a baseball bat in the wrong direction. Ruston had previous roles in\u00a0Overboard\u00a0and\u00a0Big. He isn\u2019t acting anymore nowadays, but is a guitarist in the band Deal by Dusk. 8. Kristine Sutherland (AKA Mae Thompson) Disney \/ Getty Images Sutherland played the role of Mae Thompson, who was a little more of a believer in the shrink ray than her husband Russ.\u00a0Honey, I Shrunk the Kids\u00a0was her most significant role back then. You\u2019ll probably now recognise her as Buffy\u2019s mother from\u00a0Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Sutherland had had a more recent recurring role in\u00a0One Life to Live\u00a0and also appeared in the Showtime series\u00a0Episodes.
