Whether or not you have superstitious beliefs, there are still some proven ways to bring good luck in the house. The principle behind this is simple- we are surrounded by a constant flow of energy around us. The Chinese call this energy as Chi. The concept of Feng Shui (pronounced Feng-shway) is also based around creating a positive space in our homes or offices with proper furniture placement. Today we will study some easy ways to bring good luck into our homes. 1. A Red Door If your front door faces the south, that is. According to feng shui, painting south-facing doors red or orange, north-facing doors blue or black, west-facing doors gray or white, and east-facing doors brown or green, is good luck. Pinterest 2. Soft Linens Okay, so it might not exactly be good luck in the traditional sense, but according to some studies, having soft materials in your home will promote a sense of calm and comfort. Pinterest 3. Elephants These large, gentle animals are viewed as wise, loyal, and steadfast, which is part of the reason they're also symbols for luck. Place a mini figurine in your home to protect your family. Pinterest 4. Fresh Flowers Not only will fresh flowers bring happiness into your home, but people who practice feng shui believe they will bring good fortune as well — as long as you don't pick a variety with thorny stems. Pinterest 5. Incense Sure, the aroma incense gives off is a delight, but some also believe the smoke clears negativing in the home. The next time you have a bad day, burn a warm scent to surround yourself with harmony and luck. Pinterest 6. Fruit You've heard that an apple a day will keep the doctor away — and apparently, a bowl of citrus fruits will attract wealth as well. Keep this product on your counters to bring a positive energy to your home. Pinterest 7. Ladybugs Everyone gets a bit excited when they see these pretty insects and for a good reason! Some people believe that ladybugs are good luck, so you may want to keep a little statue or painting of one in your house. Or, make your garden welcoming for them. Pinterest 8. Circular Layouts Another feng shui arrangement tip is to put your living room furniture in a circular formation to help the flow of energy in the room. Pinterest 9. Horseshoes Many cultures believe a horseshoe above the door will bring good luck, but some think it should point upwards (so luck doesn't run out), while others think it should point downwards (to make fortune "fall" on those who walk under it). Pinterest 10. A Clean Entryway If you don't want to spend money on your good luck charms, this feng shui practice is for you. Removing clutter from your home's entryway will help you start your day off on the right foot. Pinterest 11. Chamomile Tea Not only is drinking chamomile tea delicious and relaxing, but some people also believe it will bring you prosperity and good luck. Pinterest 12. Mirror Placement In feng shui, mirrors are used to draw in positive energy. When you place one in a location where it reflects a beautiful view from your garden or outside, this is supposed to fill your home with positivity. Pinterest 13. Barn Stars Barnstars serve no real purpose, but some farmer believes, similar to the horseshoe, if one is hanging on your barn, it will bring you good luck. Pinterest 14. A Koi Pond Since this is the greatest sign of wealth, happiness, and good fortune (at least according to feng shui principles), it's a must-have for people looking for luck. Pinterest 15. White String Lights Move over, Christmas. Hanging white string lights in your entryway or on your porch will attract opportunity to your home — and will help you recognize your good fortune when it arrives.
