Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory was an American musical that was released in 1971, starring Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. It was also one of my favorite movies growing up. The film told the story of a young boy called Charlie, who won a Golden ticket to visit Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory along with a few other children. This movie proved to be a huge success and still continues to be shown on TV around the world every year. Here are a few movie bloopers from the original Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory that you might not have noticed the first time around. 1. The Blue light... In this famous scene where Violet inflates, you can see the reflection of the blue light used to change Violet violet, in her hair. You can also see the pump used to inflate her feet 2. The Candyman. If you look carefully, the candyman accidentally hits one of the children in the face when he opens the counter in the song. He doesn’t look particularly worried about the fact he’d just hit a kid in the face, but he probably didn’t realize what he’d done. 3. The Golden ticket. Wonka already set the date of the factory tour? How did he know all the tickets would be found by October 1? Again, you’d have to pause the film right at this moment to realize, but it’s just one of the few mistakes in the movie that you wouldn’t notice any other time. 4. A jump in time. In the scene where Willy Wonka walks towards the factory gates, there’s a strange jump in time. In the shot taken from the back, we see Wonka walk across the shadow of the building but when the shot changes to the front, the shadow is further back than before, not even crossing the carpet he was walking on. Click NEXT to continue reading 5. The string on the Wonkavator. You can also clearly see the string used to hold the Wonkavator when it flies out through the roof. These days we can use green-screen, but back then they certainly had to get creative. When I was a kid one thing I really wanted to do was ride the Wonkavator, it looked like so much fun! 6. Although there’s English signage planted in this fictional European town, you catch glances of German advertisements. You’d have to have a very very quick eye to notice this but if you pause the movie and take a look, you’ll see some of the signs are in English and some are in German. Fortunatly now you can watch things in slow motion to catch this one. 7. The chocolate bar. In the scene where Charlie unwraps his golden ticket, you can see that the chocolate bar is really just a piece of brown paper. Te cream mixed with it made it go bad though and very quickly. Some of the cast said that the smell lingered for a long time. Regardless of how old I am, I still dream of swimming in a chocolate river. I think the closest I'll get is a chocolate fountain at a wedding. Before The Last Bloopers, Watch This Gene Wilder Tribute 9. The spooky boat ride. During the spooky boat ride scene, you think the boat is moving very fast but there’s no wind used in the scene. Rumour has it that this was because the director had an argument with the wind operator right before filming the scene. 10. Veruca’s lip syncing.
