Carnivals are the epitome of nostalgia, especially for when you were little and craved that pink or blue-colored cotton candy the moment you stepped onto the grounds. The feeling doesn't go away as an adult, either, as it's difficult to forget the magic and fun of carnivals during the autumn season. However, there are so many tricks and secrets that go on in carnivals that you may have thought about or might have not even crossed your mind. The Ring Toss game YouTube Many of the games at carnivals are actually rigged to be a lot harder or a lot easier to win at. With this being said, there's also a secret to the famous ring toss game so you could potentially win the big prize next time. Toss the ring upward and give it a decent arch with a little spin and you might have a shot at landing right on the bottle. 2. The Duck Pond game YouTube It's really suggested to just avoid the duck pond game at all costs. Of course, your kiddos are probably going to want to play anyway, but it's probably better to persuade them with buying a toy from one of the gift stores (which, by the way, probably goes for the same price as the game itself and you are still guaranteed a toy at the end). 3. Goldfish YouTube Not a lot of carnivals do it this way anymore, but at some carnivals, the way to win a fish was to try and toss a rock (or something similar to a rock) into a fish's container. If it landed in a container, you won the fish. This is now considered cruel and unusual, so it's suggested to stay away from games like this. You can always buy a fish for $5 at Petco. 4. The Dart game YouTube If you've ever played a dart game at a carnival where the goal is to pop the balloon, but the balloon doesn't seem to pop, there is a secret behind that one. The ends of the darts are dull, so they're not exactly designed to pop the balloons on target. The balloons are also extremely under-inflated, meaning that automatically sets players up for failure. Don't waste your money or just throw your dart really hard next time- although there's a higher chance your accuracy will be off. 5. The High-Striker game YouTube Every muscle man out there will immediately go to grab the mallet and show off his strength at the high striker game. However, in most instances, the bell doesn't ring and it actually is not even close to being rung realistically. Why? It's all up to accuracy. You have to hit the pad dead-center in order to receive a higher probability of ringing the bell. By simply hitting any part of the pad with all your strength, you probably won't be hitting that bell anytime soon. 6. The Swinger game YouTube It's suggested to not even bother with the swinger game either, and it's because of physics. The goal of the game is to take a ball attached to a cord or string and get the ball to knock over a bowling pin. You can't knock it over on the way forward, meaning that it must be performed going backward. Despite this, physics says that it's impossible due to the ball just swinging past the pin over and over again no matter which way you try to knock it over from. The Rope Ladder YouTube It's recommended that if you attempt to climb the rope ladder, you use the sides of the ladder to make your way up instead of the middle part. It's also suggested to use your opposite limbs simultaneously to keep your balance and to keep it from tipping over (right arm, left leg, left arm, right leg). 8. The Cat Rack game YouTube The goal is to throw a ball at these creepy-looking clowns to knock it over. However, you should be aiming right for their nose, which guarantees a knock-out. Hitting them too low provides a low-probability for winning. Accuracy is the best thing to focus on here, not force. 9. The Tubs game YouTube This is one of the carnival games that are actually rigged and definitely setup to make you fail every time. You basically have to throw the ball into the bucket, but the bouncing of the balls out of the bucket is what causes the failure (and it's set up that way on purpose). There's really no way to lessen the bounce of the ball so don't even bother wasting your money on this one! 10. Coin Toss game YouTube This coin toss game is very similar to that of the ring toss game. It's all in the wrist. You're going to want to aim for a high arch with a lot less forward movement, attempting to get the coin to drop straight down. You could attempt to bounce the coin off the plate and have it land on another, but you have a higher chance of winning with using the proper wrist setup. 11. Milk Bottle Toss game YouTube The game where you get to try your hand at knocking over a stack of milk bottles can be pretty frustrating. Luckily, there is a spot where you should be aiming every time to heighten your chances of winning. Aim for the very bottom of the bottom jars, right between the center two. It's important to remember that the bottles are weighed down at the bottom, and have a lesser chance of being knocked down if you aim for the middle as most people do. 12. Whack-A-Mole YouTube Whack-A-Mole is probably the most well-known game in the carnival game world. There is a trick to becoming successful in this game. The trick is to not whack from up high, but to instead get your mullet as low as you can, move it along a horizontal plane, and bring it down on top of the mole fast!
