It's true that there are tons of coins out there that may mean a lot more than just being spare change in your back pocket. It's easy to miss out on these special coins because they often get mixed in with the rest. It's important to keep your eye out for these different, meaningful coins because their vintage details might just fill your wallet up faster with actual dollar bills! Be sure to go through your coin collection or just try to come up with as much spare change around the house as you can. If one of your coins ends up looking like any of the 15 coins on this list, don't forget to visit a coin appraiser to see if it's real! 1. 1894-S Barber Dime USA Coin Book Apparently, only nine 1894-S Barber Dimes are said to exist in the world. This makes them so rare that they go for millions of dollars. A coin collector paid $2 million for this coin in 2016! 2. 1955 Double Die Penny CoinSite This blurry coin was made in 1955 when a few thousand double died pennies were released. This happened after an alignment issue during the minting process, which resulted in double words. It could be worth $1,800 if in decent condition. 3. 2007 “Godless” Presidential Coin USA Coin Book The George Washington dollar coins were accidentally minted View Postwithout the usual coin motto "In God We Trust" and it's now worth some serious dough. George Washington Godless dollars in average uncirculated condition are worth $50 or so. But pieces in top condition are worth hundreds, even thousands of dollars. For example, George Washington Godless dollars graded Mint State-68 are worth $2,000 or more! 4. 1804 Draped Bust Silver Dollar - Class I USA Coin Book This 19th-century coin goes for millions of dollars. One of the coins was auctioned off for $3.7 million and another for $4.14 million. However, there's only about fifteen of these left in the world. 5. 2005 Speared Bison Jefferson Nickel PCGS CoinFact This unique coin of a bison appearing to be stabbed is actually worth more than a thousand dollars. 6. 1913 Liberty Head Nickel Google Sites The Liberty Head nickel is easily worth a few thousand dollars. It's actually common for any of us to be holding onto a coin of some sort that has a face on it. It's best to visit a coin appraiser in this instance because you never know how much 'face value' that coin has! 7. 1943 Lincoln Head Copper Penny CoinHELP! This special coin was made out of copper in comparison to the other '40s pennies that were made out of steel and zinc. These pennies can be worth up to $10,000 but there's a lot of fakes out there. If you find that you own one of these pennies, as they're common to find, be sure to take it to an appraiser to see if it's the real deal. On the tail side, the '1941' year is also printed upside down. This quarter has been put up for auction previously for $35,000! 9. Ben Franklin half-dollar Buy Gold And Silver These kinds of coins with Ben Franklin's face circulated in the '40s. The coin was soon replaced with an image of John F. Kennedy in 1964 after his assassination. Because this half-dollar was around for two whole decades, it's still out there and not as rare as the others. It could go for at least $100. 10. 1907 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Coin World This coin was originally super controversial. Congress was displeased when the U.S. Mint's chief engraver chose to remove "In God We Trust" from their coins and replace it with Saint-Gaudens' design. Because of its controversial nature, this coin goes for about $7 million. 11. Wheat Pennies The Penny Lady This extremely common penny that you might even be able to find at the bottom of your bag or wallet can be worth upwards of $300. The only reason it's worth so much? The "AM" in America is closer than it should be compared to any other normal coin. Fifteen of these coins are known to exist. 13. 2005 "In God We Rust" Kansas State Quarter Coin Talk An accident caused by grease build-up when creating this coin caused the "T" to be dropped, making the motto "In God We Rust". This coin can be worth hundreds of dollars. 14. 2004 Wisconsin State Quarter USA Coin Book A few thousand coins that were minted in Wisconsin State were accidentally marked with an extra leaf on a husk of corn. For this reason alone, this coin can be worth up to $1,400. 15. 1982 No P Mintmark Roosevelt Dime USA Coin Book It's important to note that all coins have a tiny letter on them to depict the location they were made from.
