If you thought you’d heard it all from Iggy Pop, think again. Rock legend Iggy Pop, 78, stunned fans on May 31 in Manchester, England, with a dramatic and unexpected concert departure, where he climbed into a coffin and got wheeled off stage. This happened at the O2 Victoria Warehouse after his final show of the night.
The legendary performer was shirtless and clad in only black pants and shoes to provide his fans with one last scene to remember. As the final notes faded into the distance, Iggy stepped into the coffin, and his crew took him away. The crowd quickly pulled out their phones to take footage of the breathtaking moment, later flooding social media with it.

After the breathtaking stunt from Iggy, his supporters took to social media with reactions and comments about the theatrics of his exit. One TikTok user commented on how the move was unexpected, and others simply said it was unforgettable and wild.
For the die-hard fans, the moment was the perfect show of Iggy’s unapologetic nature, and they were hardly shocked; he was only being himself no matter what. Though old, Iggy is the same artist known for pushing boundaries since the ‘70s. One fan even reaffirmed that only Iggy Pop could pull off something like that.
Still rocking hard with new music and tour dates
While the coffin exit raised eyebrows about whether this was Iggy’s last curtain call, upcoming performances make this far from it. Iggy is set for another performance at the start of June at the O2 Academy in Glasgow. Iggy does not appear to be leaving the scene anytime soon, to the satisfaction of his loyal fans.
He dropped his new single, “Frenzy,” from his January release Every Loser last spring, while working with rock producer Andrew Watt. Features included Guns N’ Roses and Red Hot Chili Peppers members, proving that Iggy is evolving and collaborating in the music industry as he ages.
