Country icon Dolly Parton and her younger sister Rachel Parton co-authored a cookbook, Good Lookin’ Cookin’: A Year Of Meals – A Lifetime of Family, Friends, and Food, which they released in September. The book was inspired by their late mother, Avie Lee Owens, and contains over 80 recipes plus twelve multi-course menus and tips for hosting events.
The New York Times bestseller gives insight into the sisters’ upbringing and their homemaking skills. Unlike Rachel, who prefers written-down recipes and physical cookbooks, Dolly prefers the traditional way of cooking, where recipes are shared across generations through word of mouth.

Rachel began her career with a solo stage performance at 15 while being a part of her family’s singing group and afterward pursued a career as a songwriter. She later became the lead vocalist of Honey Creek, which she formed with her late brother, Randy.
The 65-year-old explored her other talents and appeared in the ABC sitcom 9 to 5, which was based on Dolly’s ‘80s hit. She has starred in other productions like Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas and Sunset Music Festival.
Dolly Parton and Rachel enjoy collaborating
Aside from their cookbook, Dolly and Rachel released a new single featured in the upcoming album Dolly Parton And Family. Both ladies began working together as far back as when Rachel was in eighth grade. She quit school to join Dolly on tour, helping her with makeup and backup vocals.
Rachel is currently a member of Dolly’s executive team, and her presence is an undeniable factor in Dolly’s success. Fans often express admiration for their relationship, calling them life’s perfect combo. “Having met both of you, I can say you are truly good folk,” someone replied to the ladies on X, while another wondered if they ever have sibling rivalry.
