Kris retired in 2020 at 84, but this did not stop the demand for his music from going higher. Last year, he came out of retirement to perform at Willie Nelson’s 90th two-day birthday celebration, joining voices with Roseanne Cash on the first night. Cash took to the stage singing “Loving Her Was Easier” before Kris joined her, to the audience’s surprise.

It was a touching sight to behold as the duo sang arm-in-arm while trying to fight back tears. Beyond the talent, Kris’ loving nature is depicted within these few minutes, as the audience sings along while trying to recover from his surprise appearance.

Even fans could feel the electrifying effect of Kris’ presence, as told by their ensuing comments on social media. Kris battled diseases like sleep apnea, memory loss, and Lyme disease, which majorly affected his ability to control his muscles as he would often experience painful spasms.  Kris is survived by his wife, Lisa Meyers, his eight children, and seven grandkids.
