Blake Shelton has been continually creating new music since his career kicked off over twenty years ago. Fans have seen Shelton go through a few different looks over the years, but his mullet probably looked very familiar in his August 16 Instagram post, which also promoted his new music.
Specifically, the 46-year-old has a new song releasing this week called “No Body.” Shelton started off strong back in 2001 with his debut single called “Austin,” which was released on his self-titled debut album. Since its release, it has been certified Platinum after spending over a month at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. What is Shelton bringing fans next?

Earlier this week, Shelton took to Instagram to show a promotional picture for his upcoming single. It shows the Grammy Award nominee in a stylish black jacket with decorative embroidery, a cowboy hat, and his old signature mullet, brought back for the occasion. “Had to bring back the mullet just for y’all,” he confirmed in the captions. He went on, “New song out this Friday. Pre-save link in bio. #NoBody.” The mullet has been two years in the making; Shelton said during lockdown he would grow back his mullet “as a symbol of hope.” The decision was made while his and many other artists’ concerts were canceled.

But Shelton also poured some money into providing hope by donating portions of his merchandise sales to the MusiCares COVID-19 relief fund, and $150,000 to a project that’s part of a partnership to keep those in need fed during the pandemic. With the world starting to turn again, he’s now keeping the music flowing. So, what’s next?
New music and a new video
Nostalgia defines a lot about the upcoming single, which will also have an accompanying music video releasing Friday. “I get excited and feel like a kid every time we release new music,” Shelton revealed. “But this song, in particular, takes me back to the ‘90s when I was in high school and first moved to Nashville because it feels like what the music sounded like at that time.”
Shelton has a dozen studio albums, many released consecutively over the years. His latest was Body Language, released in 2021. 2003’s The Dreamer is gold and 2004’s Blake Shelton’s Barn & Grill is platinum certified. 40 of his singles have charted, with over half of those reaching the top of the charts. It’s no wonder he’s been a familiar face on The Voice for so long.
