Priscilla Presley Gets Brutally Candid About What It Was Like Being Married To Elvis

Last year, Priscilla Presley opened up about everything Elvis-related from how they met to the challenges they faced in their relationship and marriage. She stopped by the UK talk show Loose Women to discuss what transpired over the course of their six-year marriage together.

Priscilla Beaulieu was a model and actress who met Elvis when she was only 14 years old. He was serving in the United States Army at the time in West Germany alongside Priscilla’s father who was a U.S. Air Force officer. Elvis was 10 years older than Priscilla at the time and already a big name in the music industry.

The couple officially married when Priscilla was 21 and moved to Elvis’ home in Memphis, which was the first obstacle the two had to overcome together.

Moving into Graceland, he already had his inner circle. Of course, they embraced me, but I never realized that that was it. We didn’t go out. He didn’t like eating in restaurants because people would take pictures of him and he didn’t want to be shot … putting a fork in his mouth,” said Priscilla, “We literally lived in a bubble.”

Additionally, Priscilla reveals that Elvis, her own husband, never saw her without makeup or while she was getting ready for the day.

“There are things you keep to yourself… He never wanted to see me getting dressed. He wanted to see the result of getting dressed,” she surprisingly reveals.

Priscilla reveals that Elvis apparently just became lost while living his life and only his. Everything revolved around what he wanted to do and not what Priscilla wanted to do. She felt that she lost out on her normal teenage years while focusing on Elvis and what he needed at the time. They would still go out and do things, but it was based solely on what Elvis desired.
With this being said, Priscilla said she ultimately left him because she “needed to find out what the world was like”.

All things considered, this is not coming from a negative place or a place of bad blood. It was just something to “adapt” to, as Priscilla says about dating a rock star.

“I just kind of followed, you know, what he did,” she says, “I mean, you lived his life, you honestly didn’t have your own life. You lived his life, you saw the movies he wanted to see, you listened to the music he listened to, you go to places that he would go, so you really kind of lost yourself.”
