20 Of The Most Famous And Iconic Wedding Dresses Of All Time

by Zack Walkter

9.Yoko Ono

For her March 1969 wedding to John Lennon, Yoko Ono wore a white minidress – accessorised with a sun hat and over-sized sunglasses. Zsa Zsa Gabor cuttingly described the couple as looking like “two people going to hold up a bank”.

10. Raquel Welch

For her second marriage (she was married to James Welch from 1959 to 1964), Raquel Welch wore a crochet dress for her February 1967 Paris wedding to Hollywood producer Patrick Curtis. She teamed her dress with a three-quarter length white fur coat. Welch and Curtis were divorced in 1972 and Raquel went on to marry French producer and writer Andre Weinfeld (1980-1990) and then restaurateur Richard Palmer (1999-2008); both marriages ended in divorce.

11. Diana, Princess of Wales

Diana, Princess of Wales, wore a dress designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel for her July 1981 wedding to Prince Charles. Her gown’s 25-foot train is the longest in royal wedding history. Charles and Diana were divorced in 1996 and, in August 1997, she was tragically killed in a car crash.

12. Ava Gardner

For her November 1961 wedding to Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner wore a halterneck dress with a sheer shawl. This was Ava’s third wedding (and Frank’s second), with her first being to Mickey Rooney during the war in 1942 – at which she wore a woolen suit in a show of austerity. They were divorced in 1957.
