Sharon Stone is best known for bold, unforgettable roles in big films like Basic Instinct and Casino. She made her name by playing strong, sharp characters that stood out in every scene. Her rise to fame started with Total Recall, where she acted alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and proved she could hold her own in a blockbuster action film.
However, before all of that success, she was just another actress accepting any acting gig she could find. One of those early roles became something she would later regret deeply, and not just because the film flopped.
Sharon Stone had a terrible experience filming ‘Blood and Sand’

In 1989, Sharon Stone starred in a film called Blood and Sand, a remake of an old Spanish story about a young bullfighter and his downfall. Stone played a rich Spanish woman who becomes part of the bullfighter’s problems. The director, Javier Elorrieta, was unknown, and the movie didn’t have much of a budget or any real buzz around it.
Stone later explained that the filming experience was awful. The crew barely spoke English, the cast didn’t take the work seriously, and people were drinking during the day. She described the movie’s set as unprofessional and chaotic. Today, most people don’t even remember the film existed. The only reason it gets mentioned at all is because Stone was in it.
‘Blood and Sand’ was not her only movie that flopped
Stone also appeared in Beyond the Stars, a film in which she starred alongside Martin Sheen and Christian Slater; however, it went straight to TV and vanished without a trace. Even Stone’s name could not save it, and it joined a growing list of forgettable films from that period in her career.
Even after she became famous, not every film was a success. Movies like Sliver, Intersection, Last Dance, Diabolique, and Gloria didn’t impress critics or fans. Some of them were expensive to make but failed to earn money or respect. Still, out of all the misfires, Blood and Sand stands out as the one she remembers most negatively.
