Hollywood has long struggled with ageism, especially when it comes to actresses. Many stars find themselves receiving fewer roles as they grow older, while others battle insecurities about their changing bodies. The pressure to maintain a youthful appearance often leads to extreme measures. However, Sharon Stone is choosing a different path.
At 66, Stone has become an advocate for self-love and body acceptance. The actress has openly discussed the realities of aging and encourages others to embrace their bodies, no matter the changes. Instead of seeing aging as a loss, she has learnt to view it as a transformation.
Sharon Stone shared that her underarms now have pleats
Stone believes that loving your body is important at every stage of life. She shared that aging brings physical changes, but she has refused to let that affect her self-worth. “A lot of people give up as they get older,” she said, but she chooses to see beauty in every stage. For her, aging is not about decline but about embracing a new version of herself.
She even finds humor in the changes she notices. She joked that her underarms now have “pleats,” but instead of being upset, she called them her “angel wings.” As someone who has shifted from acting to painting, she now sees her hands and arms as tools of creativity, not just objects to be judged. The actress also shared the humorous advice she was given by her Dynasty star Joan Collins: “Joan said: ‘Let me give you a tip. After 40, never get on top and never wave goodbye.”
Sharon Stone still enjoys getting ready for the red carpet
Despite her age, Stone still enjoys the glamour of Hollywood. She admits that getting ready for red carpet events is an “entire transformation” but embraces the process with humor. She compares it to assembling a “Mrs. Potato Head,” where everything is put together before she steps out.
Beyond aging, Stone has faced serious health challenges. In 2001, she suffered a life-threatening stroke and was given only a 1% chance of survival. Her recovery was long and difficult, but she fought through it. Now, she takes pride in the fact that she can still walk red carpets in five-inch heels. “I made it, and you can too,” she said.
