Glenn Danzig Calls Out Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Final Tour,’ Slams Farewell Tours As “Scam”

Ozzy Osbourne final show

Fans are eagerly anticipating Ozzy Osbourne‘s upcoming farewell tour. However, beyond the anticipation and excitement, the final show has sparked conversation among rock and metal fans. Not everyone is convinced about the reunion with Black Sabbath members; there are murmurs that the reunion is just an elaborate scam to get fans together.

In a recent interview, Glenn Danzig shared his thoughts on this subject. He talked about a time when Ozzy’s tour was also labeled as his last. He added that when his band toured with Ozzy years ago, it was also advertised as Ozzy’s final tour. However, multiple farewell tours have followed. He revealed that many of these farewell tours don’t actually mark the end.

Danzig did not hold back in his criticism of farewell tours. He pointed to bands like Motley Crue and KISS, both of whom announced final tours only to return to the stage years later. Motley Crue’s 2015 farewell show in Los Angeles was meant to be their last, yet they resumed touring. Similarly, KISS ended their second farewell tour in 2023, despite their first one being in 2001.

Danzig called this practice “kind of a scam,” stating that when a band says their tour is final, it should be the end. He assured fans that if he ever announced a farewell tour, he would not return afterward. Instead of extensive tours, Danzig shared that he now limits himself to a handful of shows.

Black Sabbath’s final show moves forward

Despite Danzig’s skepticism and criticism, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath are set to headline “Back to the Beginning” on July 5 at Villa Park. This show will reunite Ozzy with Tony Lommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, marking what is being promoted as their last performance together.

Seeing that Ozzy Osbourne has mobility problems due to his Parkinson’s disease, are there chances that he will return to perform after the final show? Also, now that farewell tours have become a recurring trend in rock and metal, do you think final tours are truly final, or are they just another way to bring fans back?
