Donny Osmond Says He Stole His Wife, Debbie Osmond, From His Older Brother

Donny Osmond’s relationship with his wife, Debbie Osmond, started unexpectedly. The couple has been married for over forty years and have five sons, making their marriage enviable in the entertainment industry. Recently, Osmond opened up about meeting his wife through his brother as a teenager.

Donny Osmond became famous at a young age with his brothers, known as The Osmonds. When he was five, he recalled meeting his wife, Debbie, who was then three, at an airport in Billings, Montana, when her family was waiting for an uncle. The family recognized them and hurried to get an autograph, and there he first saw her.

When Donny Osmond would later meet his wife again, they were already teenagers, and she was dating his older brother, Jay Osmond. He also saw a girl named Tammy and the four went to an Elton John concert together. As Elton John began to play the piano and sing Your Song, Donny recalled looking over at Debbie, his brother’s date, and thought he would “marry that girl someday.”

He was immediately drawn to her and determined to win her heart, knowing she was special. Soon, Debbie’s relationship with Jay ended, and Donny decided to take the opportunity to express himself to her. They fall in love passionately, knowing they will spend all their lives together. Later, when he met Elton John again, he jokingly mentioned the concert and told the singer he was responsible for his marriage.

In the 1970s, The Osmonds became more popular, which opened a door for Donny, who also started his solo career. However, as he struggled to transition from being a teen idol to an adult artist, the pressures increased, almost ruining his reputation. And he and Debbie kept their relationship private for some time.

However, even though these challenges persisted, at the age of 20, Donny married Debbie. They had a private wedding ceremony, away from the media’s and fans’ attention. And even after several decades of marriage, Donny Osmond does not cease to praise his wife for her support over the years.
