Dylan took to X to acknowledge his friend’s passing, noting that he just found out. “Rest in peace Bob. You brought us a lot of joy,” he wrote. Dylan’s post received over a million views and many comments from users who were in his position. “I didn’t even know he was sick,” a fellow clueless person said.
A fan asked Dylan to be more active on social media because times are changing, and a few people agreed with them. “Good to hear from you Bob. Can you stick around for a while?” another requested. Some were even surprised that Dylan had a Twitter and teased him for being out of the loop.
Bob Newhart’s life and career
Bob’s career took off in the late ‘50s after Warner Bros. Records signed him, and a year later, his comedy album The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart topped the Billboard charts. Fast-forward to the ‘70s, Bob got his show and then another in 1982.
Bob’s career was slightly affected by secondary polycythemia, resulting from his unhealthy lifestyle of smoking. He bounced back after quitting his vice, starring in hit movies like Elf, The Simpsons, and NCIS. Bob is survived by his children, Robert Jr., Timothy, Courtney Albertini, and Jennifer Newhart, and ten grandkids.
