The 24-hour news cycle can seem exhausting to fill up but sometimes there’s a lot to talk about – and a lot to fact-check. That’s exactly what Joy Behar had to do on The View when she set time aside to amend an incorrect statement she made earlier this week.
The current lineup of The View undergoes some changes but mostly consists of Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, and Sunny Hostin. The holidays are right around the corner for them too and there’s definitely an atmosphere of excitement and eagerness to get to it, so even with Behar’s recent mixup, the group lightened the mood with humor. Here’s how it happened.
Joy Behar apologizes for an incorrect statement she made
On Tuesday’s episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg directed proceedings to Behar, saying, “Welcome to The View. Before we get to Hot Topics, Joy, you want to clarify something?” After they set this time aside, Behar confirmed, “Yeah, I have to clarify something I said yesterday.”

She continued, “I want to correct something I said on air when I stated that People of Praise had been deemed a hate group. I just got them mixed up with another group.” People of Praise refers to an international network of lay Christian communities; it follows a practice called spiritual direction, where a “spiritually mature” person acts as the “head” who supervises a member.
Catching up with business
Quickly, The View crew assured Behar and eased any residual tension. Goldberg, for instance, responded with “Ah, ok” and added how “that happens.” There was also the joke, “It’s easy to do. You know, sometimes I call Joy, Sara [Haines].” Haines jumped right in with an arm around Behar and chimed in, “Because we look so much alike.” Goldberg, who returned to The View after her second bout of COVID-19, confirmed, “Because you look identical to each other.”
Goldberg wasn’t the only one battling sickness. Sunny Hostin was recently out sick as well. Hostin was discussing set designer Nicholas Des Jardins and struggled while saying the surname. Ana Navarro teased her and Hostin said back, “with laryngitis on top of it.”
