This Sunday, look for an incredibly powerful Super Bowl ad brought to you by Google. The ad tells the true story of a Google employee’s grandfather and his touching love story. In the ad, the 85-year-old grandfather tells his Google Assistant details that he can remember about his late wife, Loretta.
For instance, the ad is simply titled, “Loretta.” It was inspired by the true story of a Google employee’s grandfather, and that grandfather’s voice is used in the ad. The chief marketing officer at Google, Lorraine Twohill released a statement about the new advertisement.
Google will release a heartwarming new ad during the Super Bowl
She said, “The ad reflects our goal to build products that help people in their daily lives, in both big and small ways. Sometimes that’s finding a location, sometimes it’s playing a favorite movie, and sometimes it’s using the Google Assistant to remember meaningful details.”

The ad is also a nod to Google’s very first Super Bowl ad, which aired 10 years ago. That particular ad was called “Parisian Love,” and Lorraine explained the similarities between the two ads.
She said, “‘Loretta’ has a few other things in common with our ‘Parisian Love’ commercial from 10 years ago. Both are simple love stories told through the lens of our products. Both were inspired by real people—in fact, the voice you hear throughout ‘Loretta’ is the grandfather of a Googler, whose story we drew from to create the ad. At 85, to an audience of millions, he’ll be making his film debut. We couldn’t be happier for him.”
