Knight said he and the other actors did not want to disappoint Robert Reed and Florence Henderson, who played family patriarch Mike Brady and his wife, Carol. Away from television, Lookinland faced alcoholism before eventually getting sober. He married Kelly Wermuth in 1987, and the couple went on to have two children. He later moved into a very different career, running a small business that creates decorative concrete countertops, fireplaces, benches, and other pieces.
