Betty White passed away on New Year’s Eve at the age of 99. An outpouring of tributes flooded social media from former co-stars of Betty and fans alike. Actor Don Cheadle shared a heartwarming tribute in honor of Betty when he received the news. Don and Betty worked together on The Golden Girls‘ spin-off series The Golden Palace.
The Golden Palace is set to hit the streaming service Hulu on Jan. 10 so fans can relive the show that ran for one season from 1992-1993. Don shared a throwback photo of himself and Betty and wrote, “betty was the best of the best. when we were shooting scenes together it was difficult for the DP to get the lighting right between my chocolate and betty’s white! she was either a ghost or i was the shadow. i came on set one day and betty had darkened her make up/hair a bit in an attempt to accommodate for it.”

The Golden Palace was set after The Golden Girls finale. Dorothy (Bea Arthur) got married and moved away, so the spin-off saw Blanche (Rue McClanahan), Sophia (Estelle Getty), and Rose (Betty White) purchase a hotel. They managed it with the help of Don’s character Roland Wilson. Cheech Marin also starred as Chuy Castillos, the co-chef.
Betty was the last surviving member of The Golden Girls. May they all rest in peace.
