As restaurants begin to reopen with social distancing guidelines, they’re all taking different avenues of enforcing these practices. Burger King is one of the restaurants debuting a new and interesting social distancing technique. They have debuted giant BK crowns for customers to wear to encourage social distancing and keep them apart. These debuted specifically in Germany.
Burger King tweeted out an image of people wearing these giant crowns with the caption, “Distancing, but make it fashion”. The crowns are meant to keep customers 6 feet apart from one another, enforcing the social distancing rules.

A spokesperson for Burger King spoke to Business Insider about the social distance crown. “We wanted to reinforce the rules of high safety and hygiene standards that the BK restaurants are following,” they say. “The do-it-yourself social distance crown was a fun and playful way to remind our guests to practice social distancing while they are enjoying food in the restaurants.”

Post-lockdown, many restaurants throughout the world are working on inventive ways to encourage social distancing. Some restaurants are only open for outdoor seating while others have markers on the floor.
Other ways restaurants are social distancing upon reopening
Some restaurants are acting very similar to Burger King and using unusual and creative ways to encourage social distancing. A restaurant in Sweden is serving a single person every day by delivering food to a table in the middle of a field from a basket on a rope pulley system. Another restaurant in Thailand is using stuffed panda bears to indicate where customers can and can’t sit. Additionally, a Chinese national park is giving 3-foot-wide social distancing hats to tourists. Definitely some very interesting and innovative ways to distance people!
What do you think of these social distancing techniques? Do you know of any restaurants or stores that are doing something similar?
