“Here’s the story of a lovely lady…” Just reading those words is enough to bring back the whole theme song, the bouncing tic-tac-toe grid and nine smiling faces glancing at one another. The Brady Bunch premiered on ABC on September 26, 1969, with the story of a widowed architect and his three boys who become a family with a woman and her three girls, while housekeeper Alice kept the whole household running. Creator Sherwood Schwartz’s sitcom lasted five seasons and 117 episodes before it ended on March 8, 1974.
Here is the funny part. The show was never a ratings giant in its first run, and it only found its real audience once it went into syndication in 1975, when generations of kids came home from school to Brady reruns. The Brady Bunch cast reunited again and again over the decades for TV movies, a variety hour and even a home renovation series. Some of those familiar faces are gone now, so here is where each of them landed, and who is still with us in 2026.
Is Robert Reed still alive?
Robert Reed played Mike Brady, the patient dad with a drafting table and a gentle lecture for every crisis, but he never thought of himself as a sitcom actor. He had starred as a young lawyer on The Defenders in the early 1960s, and on Broadway he replaced Robert Redford in Barefoot in the Park.

That serious streak made for famous friction. Reed clashed with Schwartz over scripts he found silly, sending long memos about story logic, and he sat out the series finale, “The Hair-Brained Scheme,” over a script dispute. His work after the show proved his range, with Emmy nominations for Medical Center and Rich Man, Poor Man in 1976 and another for Roots in 1977. For all the grumbling, he still came back for A Very Brady Christmas and The Bradys.
Robert Reed died on May 12, 1992, in Pasadena, California, at the age of 59. According to Biography.com, his death was first attributed to cancer, and his death certificate later listed HIV as a contributing factor. He had kept his private life out of the public eye for his entire career.

Is Ann B. Davis still alive?
Ann B. Davis played Alice Nelson, the housekeeper in the blue uniform who was quick with a joke and quicker with a hug. She was no newcomer when she arrived at the Bradys, either, because she had already won two Emmys for playing Schultzy on The Bob Cummings Show in the 1950s.
When the series ended, Davis stepped away from Hollywood in a way few stars ever do. In 1976 she sold her Los Angeles home and joined an Episcopal community in Denver led by Bishop William C. Frey, and she devoted much of her life to church volunteer work. Still, she always found time to put Alice’s uniform back on for the Brady reunions, from The Brady Girls Get Married in 1981 to The Bradys in 1990, and she made a cameo in The Brady Bunch Movie in 1995.
Ann B. Davis died on June 1, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas. She was 88. According to CBN News, she suffered a subdural hematoma after a fall in her bathroom and never regained consciousness. She had been living with Bishop Frey and his wife, Barbara.
