For generations of The Brady Bunch fans, Maureen McCormick will always be the original Marcia Brady. Years later, Christine Taylor stepped into the role for the hit 1990s movie adaptations, bringing her own affectionate spin to one of television’s most recognizable characters.
According to People, now, the two actresses have finally had the chance to spend real time together away from premieres, Zoom calls, and crowded events. The Maureen McCormick-Christine Taylor connection became much more personal after the pair met for lunch and discovered that they had far more in common than just Marcia Brady.
Maureen McCormick and Christine Taylor’s Friendship Finally Takes Shape
McCormick told PEOPLE that several friends and fans sent her clips of Taylor talking on Live with Kelly and Mark about how much she wanted to meet her. Although the actresses had crossed paths briefly before, McCormick said they had never really had the chance to connect.
That changed after Taylor reached out directly and the pair made plans for lunch. McCormick said the conversation felt surprisingly natural, describing the experience as if they both “felt like we were home.” The actresses found several similarities between them and ended up enjoying a much deeper connection than either may have expected. Despite the novelty of having two Marcias at one table, McCormick said the lunch remained surprisingly private. They sat in a corner and managed to avoid drawing much attention, giving them space to talk without turning the reunion into a public spectacle.

Taylor has never hidden how much The Brady Bunch meant to her growing up. She previously said she watched the series after school and knew the episodes by heart. When she took on Marcia in 1995’s The Brady Bunch Movie and 1996’s A Very Brady Sequel, she approached the role with affection rather than parody. Taylor has said she wanted to honor McCormick’s original performance and capture what made Marcia so memorable. Her admiration eventually turned into a very specific personal goal: becoming friends with McCormick.
McCormick praised Taylor’s portrayal as “absolutely brilliant” and later shared a playful “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia” photo with her on X. The reunion came during McCormick’s 70th birthday year, which she celebrated with family and friends. The Maureen McCormick-Christine Taylor friendship feels fitting, linking the actress who created Marcia Brady with the one who later reintroduced her to a new generation.
