Nearly twenty years after the world lost Steve Irwin, his son Robert Irwin is still finding new ways to connect with his father’s legacy. Steve, best known as the Crocodile Hunter, died at age 44 in a tragic underwater accident, leaving behind his wife, Terri, and their two young children, Bindi and Robert. At the time, Robert was only two years old, but today, the 21-year-old conservationist is carrying forward his father’s passion while cherishing every memory he discovers.

In a recent interview, Robert Irwin admitted that as he gets older, his relationship with his father grows in unexpected ways. Thanks to countless episodes of The Crocodile Hunter, Robert can revisit moments that bring him closer to Steve. He explained that even footage he has never seen before helps refresh his memory and deepen his understanding of the man so many admired.
