Richard Gere Shares Rare Family Photo With His Wife Alejandra And Their Two Young Sons

Richard Gere, now 75 years old, surprised many of his fans when he posted a family photo on Instagram. In the picture, he stood beside his wife, Alejandra Silva, and their two young sons, all dressed in matching grey hoodies that had the words “Open Arms” printed on them.

Most people know Richard Gere for his many roles in big Hollywood films. He became famous in the 1980s and starred in popular movies like Pretty Woman, An Officer and a Gentleman, and Runaway Bride. Besides acting, Gere is also known for speaking up on human rights and supporting Buddhist causes.

Gere has always chosen to keep his children away from public attention, especially his youngest sons with Silva. His eldest child, Homer Gere, was born in New York in February 2000. Nearly two decades after Homer’s birth, Gere became a father again. In 2019, he and Silva welcomed their first child together, Alexander.

Since then, the couple has kept their boys mostly out of the spotlight, only sharing a few family photos with their backs turned or faces hidden. Their second son, James, was born in 2020, just nine months after Alexander. Like his brother, James has been raised quietly, far from flashing cameras and headlines.

In late 2024, Richard Gere and his family packed up their life in Connecticut and moved across the ocean to Spain. They sold their home, a large mansion worth over $10 million, and started a new chapter in Europe. The decision to move came after Silva wanted to return to her home country and work closely with local charity groups.

Now in Spain, the family has settled into a quieter lifestyle. Gere still works as an actor, but he picks projects that give him more time with his wife and kids. He recently joined the cast of a new movie where he will play Timothée Chalamet’s father, which shows he is still active in Hollywood.
