During the interview, Gere shared details about his encounter with his future wife in Italy while staying at the luxurious Villa Treville hotel, owned by Alejandra in 2014. Reflecting on their meeting, the actor fondly recalled that his now-wife was unaware of his celebrity status. “I think she didn’t know who I was when she met me.”

Gere also took a moment to explain the dynamics of their relationship, acknowledging and appreciating his wife’s ability to adapt to various situations. “Alejandra was very generous in giving me six years living in my world,” he said. “So it is only fair that I give her at least another six years living in hers.”
The septuagenarian — who is a father of four including Albert Friedland, Homer James Jigme Gere, Alexander Gere, and another son (reportedly born in 2020 but has not been publicly revealed yet) — discussed his blended family. He explained that due to the age of his children, the family always goes to bed very early. “The truth is that we don’t go out much,” Gere admitted. “So around nine thirty at night we are all asleep. If we watch something, it will be on the big television we have at home.”
Gere also noted that despite his widespread fame, his children are somewhat detached from his celebrity status. He shared that Homer and Alexandra have not watched many of his movies. “He doesn’t understand it. And it is also very difficult for him to see me on the screen because, even if I play an extreme character,” he confessed. “I am still his father and it is difficult for him to get into the story.”
