Richard Gere Leads Worry-Free Life In Spain, Leaving Diets And Hollywood Behind

Richard Gere, once one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men, has fully embraced his new Spanish life. The Days of Heaven star, who is now 75 years old, made the move last year with his wife of five years, Alejandra Silva, and their children, Alexander, James, and Albert.

After decades in the limelight, he quietly eased himself out of Hollywood, choosing family and leisure over the pressures of fame. His new existence is a universe away from his heartthrob years, and this has been accompanied by some noticeable changes, including a more relaxed approach to fitness.

Since settling into his new home in Spain, Gere has been doing great at his new life as a devoted husband and father. Friends say he’s loving his surroundings and is not worried about maintaining the body that once made him a Hollywood heartthrob.

A love for Spanish cuisine has played a central role in his new appearance. He has developed a particular taste for traditional dishes like paellas, croquettes, tortillas de patatas, and churros, often followed by fine wines from his own collection. The indulgence has put 30 pounds on his frame, but friends report that he doesn’t care.

Richard Gere’s Hollywood journey

Gere’s career has spanned decades, with box office hits and critically acclaimed performances. He became a star with American Gigolo in 1980, which solidified his status as a silver-screen sex symbol. His role in An Officer and a Gentleman only added to his star status, while Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts is one of his most classic romantic films ever.

Beyond romantic leads, he showed his versatility in films like Chicago, for which he received a Golden Globe, and Primal Fear, showcasing his depth as an actor. As successful as he was, Gere gradually drifted away from Hollywood, partly because of his outspoken political views as well as a growing desire for a more private life.
