Candace Cameron Bure has never shied away from sharing her life with fans on social media, but not all interactions are uplifting. After receiving a hurtful comment about her appearance, the Fuller House alum recently took a moment to reflect on the darker side of connecting with fans and other social media users online.
On May 19, the 49-year-old actress posted a screengrab to her Instagram Stories showing a comment from a follower describing her as old and not aging well. Though she did not respond to the user directly, she used the moment to highlight a bigger issue: how casual cruelty, even masked as opinion, can affect people.
Candace Cameron Bure on aging

Rather than fire back, Candace responded with gentleness and poise. In a follow-up message, she acknowledged that such comments are far from rare. “I receive countless messages like this on the daily,” she wrote, adding that while she can handle them as a middle-aged woman, the concern goes far beyond her own experience.
Candace Cameron Bure emphasized that such remarks, even when shrugged off, can be dangerous, especially when they happen to younger people and tear them down. The actress clarified that she was not sharing the post for validation or praise. Instead, her message was about the persistent impact of people judging others online.
A message of kindness
Candace has always tried to meet negativity with compassion. She noted that those who lash out online may be revealing something about themselves. “I imagine the people who write these kinds of messages are reflecting what they are personally feeling,” she wrote. Rather than lash out, she said she prays for them to find peace and love.
Even in a moment of vulnerability, Candace chose to be kind and joyful. She is currently filming a new holiday movie for Great American Family, not letting negativity slow her down. The project’s title is still secret, but she teased that loyal GAF fans might be able to guess it. Candace Cameron Bure is choosing to age gracefully, honestly, and without apology, not minding the external pressure.
