A new tribute show has been recorded to honor Joan Rivers. Joan Rivers was one of the most fearless comedians in American history. She became famous in the 1960s and built a career out of making sharp, bold jokes about celebrities, politics, and herself. She died in 2014 at the age of 81 from complications after a medical procedure.
During her lifetime, she won an Emmy, wrote best-selling books, and became the face of red carpet fashion criticism. Her comedy was fast, loud, and always pushing the limits. She had her own talk shows and was a regular guest on The Tonight Show.

The tribute show, Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All-Star Tribute, will air on May 13 on NBC. The full, uncensored version will stream on Peacock the next day. Melissa Rivers, Joan’s daughter, and producer Erich Bergen created the event. They wanted a show that Joan would have approved of, full of jokes and not too serious.
The event featured top comedians like Jeff Ross, Sandra Bernhard, Matteo Lane, Michelle Buteau, and Randy Rainbow. These comics performed their own sets and also delivered some of Joan’s jokes from her personal collection. At the taping, celebrities like Tiffany Haddish, Chelsea Handler, Aubrey Plaza, and Melissa Rivers posed with Joan’s ashes, which were kept in a shiny urn.
Most celebrities had something great to say about Joan Rivers at the tribute taping
Many of the stars who took part in the show shared their thoughts on Joan. Rita Wilson said Joan could be very blunt, but she was never rude to people in real life. She also remembered how Joan worked very hard on her comedy and kept her jokes organized like a full-time job.
Joel McHale also spoke about Joan’s strong personality. He said she had what it took to be a great comedian and wouldn’t care about internet trolls if she were alive today. While many performers worry about public reactions, Joan never did. That confidence helped her stand out in the comedy world and keeps her name alive today.
