‘Roseanne Co-Star’ Sandra Bernhard Calls Roseanne Barr’s New Show ‘Heartbreaking’

Roseanne

Roseanne Barr was fired from the ABC sitcom, Roseanne, shortly after she returned from a two-decade absence from the show due to her racist barrage of tweets she made about Valerie Jarrett, an African-American woman who was a senior adviser to Barack Obama throughout his presidency.

Recently the 70-year-old is partnering with the anti-woke retail company Publicsq to unveil a new show that will air on Elon Musk’s rebranded platform, X, later this month. During an appearance on The Money, the actress revealed that she chose the platform because it would allow her the opportunity of free speech. “We’re followers of Elon and it’s pretty evident to us that whatever we want goes,” Barr admitted. “It’s a great way for people to fight back against totalitarianism.”

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked Roseanne co-star Sandra Bernhard a question put forward by a fan about her connection with the controversial actress, Roseanne Barr, and her thoughts about her new anti-woke show.

The actress revealed that it is quite disheartening that she is involved in a show like that. “Heartbreaking,” Bernard told the host. “It’s heartbreaking. I mean, she’s one of the most original, fabulous voices in comedy, and I just don’t know what’s happened. We haven’t spoken in a real long time, sadly.”

Sandra Bernhard previously claimed her relationship with Roseanne Barr was on the verge of collapse

Bernhard’s comment regarding Barr’s new show is not surprising at all. The two had previously collaborated on Roseanne for numerous years until it was concluded in 1997 and reunited in the 2018 revival, but she had distanced herself from the 70-year-old due to the backlash over her tweets.

In a previous interview on the Sirius XM show Sandyland, the 68-year-old openly revealed that she was tired of Barr’s attitude. She expressed her annoyance and stated that her relationship with Barr was near collapse. “I’m really trying to breathe through it and stay in that ‘dedicated to the one I love’ mindset,” Bernhard confessed. “But I gotta be honest with you — I’m kind of hitting a wall with this. Kinda bummed out. Kinda had it.”
