Billie Lourd, daughter of the late Carrie Fisher and granddaughter of Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds, acknowledges that acting runs in her family. The talented actress recently spoke about her lineage while attending the premiere of her new Hulu comedy series, Mid-Century Modern, last Tuesday.
Billie Lourd shared how comedy and performance are deeply ingrained in her genetics. She also praised the skill of her grandmother and mother and revealed a fun fact about her family’s talent in dance, saying she was not as great as young Debbie Reynold sat tap dancing, but her mother, Carrie Fisher, “sucked” at it.
Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, credits her mom and grandmother for her own talents

Despite her famous background, Billie Lourd is determined to carve out her own identity and establish a presence in the industry. Reflecting on the differences between her journey and theirs, the 32-year-old noted that she had learned to balance her life and work better than her mother and grandmother, which “is also a product of the times.”
Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds passed away just a day apart in December 2016 after successful careers. Fisher died on December 27 after a medical emergency, and the following day, Fisher’s mother, Reynolds, the Oscar-nominated star of Singin’ in the Rain, also passed away at the age of 84.
Motherhood
Billie Lourd has consistently honored her mother and grandmother over the years. During her wedding to Austen Rydell in 2022, she carried their memories with her, wearing Fisher’s favorite blue fire opal ring, and her grandmother’s dance costumes also inspired her after-party outfit. Later, Lourde shared that it was “the most fun party outfit of all time.”
Now a mother of two, Billie Lourd sees glimpses of her family’s traits in her children. Her son, Kingston, 4, and daughter, Jackson, 2, bring her joy, though she noted that she does not pressure them to enter show business, as they had all desired a family member to be a doctor. Nevertheless, Lourd has promised to support her children in any career path they choose in the future. But for now, she is enjoying watching her children grow and explore new skills.
