Ron Howard says communication and luck played key roles in his five-decade-long marriage

During a discussion with People, Howard revealed that the success of his decades-long marriage was due to effective communication and problem-solving. He noted that the foundation of a lasting relationship lies in the ability to navigate challenges together, even when the desire to communicate wanes. Howard said they both trusted in each other’s ability to resolve conflicts, strengthening their bond over time, discouraging avoidance, and encouraging open dialogue.

The Happy Days actor stated that he considers himself very fortunate to have sustained a deep connection with his wife, Cheryl, who has been a pillar of support for him over the years, even as they both grow older.

He explained that despite Cheryl’s lack of interest in baseball, she joined him in watching his latest project, the Apple TV+ docuseries Fight for Glory: 2024 World Series. He further noted that his wife became thoroughly interested in the background stories of the players and their families, concentrating more on the human side, thus transforming the series from mere entertainment into a profoundly emotional experience.
