Tracey Gold looked different in a recent public appearance. On February 17, the Growing Pains star was spotted carrying a take-out container at a restaurant in Los Angeles with her husband, Roby Marshall. Tracey became popular for her role as Carol Seaver on the sitcom Growing Pains, which aired from 1985 to 1992.
During the show, Tracey earned national recognition and became a household name in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Now 55, the actress was seen dressed in black pants and a white sweatshirt with a bold black and red design. Tracey Gold began acting young and got into the spotlight with Growing Pains. Her character, Carol Seaver, was loved for her intelligence and relatable life. However, Tracey’s life was not as beautiful as her character appeared onscreen; she had a lot going on with her, which affected her in many ways.
While filming Growing Pains, Tracey Gold hit puberty and gained weight. Then, the show’s writers began making fun of her body size in the script, which prompted her to fast for many days so that she could lose weight. However, the outcome was something she never expected.
She began to get thinner rapidly, and they instructed her to gain weight again, but by then, she had developed an eating disorder. Even now, the actress recalls the brutal experience but chooses not to blame the sitcom writers.

Tracey Gold later opened up about her battle with anorexia in the early ’90s, taking some time off acting to focus on her recovery. She began to raise awareness about eating disorders and in 2011, she hosted Starving Secrets with Tracey Gold, a Lifetime reality show to support individuals struggling with eating disorders.
Despite the struggles she faced with her career and health, Tracey Gold has been married to Roby Marshall since 1994. They met through Growing Pains co-star Joanna Kerns, who introduced them. Now, Tracey Gold still appears in movies and makes guest appearances.
