The Los Angeles wildfires are one of the most devastating natural disasters in recent American history, leaving widespread destruction and heartbreak in its trail. The extent of the damage is huge, with a number of lives lost and homes and properties worth millions of dollars being reduced to ashes. The countless survivors are now left with gathering the remains and starting the long, painful process of rebuilding
However, in the wake of the tragedy, actor Kelsey Grammer, known for his role in Frasier, shared his perspective on the disaster. He did not hold back but pointed a finger at Los Angeles politicians and suggested that their actions, or lack thereof, contributed significantly to the severity of the wildfires.
Kelsey Grammer talks about LA wildfires – and slams lawmakers for mismanagement of fire prevention efforts
In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the 69-year-old revealed that he believes that the devastating impact of the wildfires was largely due to the mismanagement of fire prevention efforts by state and local governments.
The Swing Vote actor, who identified as politically conservative, argued that the severity of the wildfires was so enormous because the officials in charge had failed to prioritize proper fire prevention measures, which eventually led to catastrophic consequences as the fire ravaged the whole of the city.
Kelsey Grammer claims that an effective system to fight wildfires should have been established
Grammer, who has deep roots in California, mentioned the long-standing risk of wildfires in the state, pointing out that the arid, desert-like conditions have always made it prone to fire outbreaks.
He further noted that the danger of a fire outbreak in California is as old as the state itself. He recalled his grandfather telling him about volunteering to fight forest fires outside Fresno as a teen. Kelsey Grammer expressed frustration that, despite the evident dangers, politicians have continuously overlooked the need for robust strategies and little has been done to mitigate the risks or establish effective systems to combat such disasters.
