Robert Englund looked unrecognizable when he was spotted taking a stroll in Los Angeles this week. The 77-year-old actor looked gentle in a deep blue sweater and matching jeans pants, with a cool and calm look that distinguished him from his love for horror movies. Having appeared in many scary movies, he is now considered a legend in the genre.

Before acting in one of the scariest movies of all time, Robert Englund auditioned for the roles of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker in Star Wars franchise but was not selected. However, he did not allow that to limit him, and in 1984, he accepted to play Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street, which became successful.

Even though he had been acting before that time, Robert Englund’s role in the horror classic A Nightmare on Elm Street earned him greater recognition. In the movie, Englund’s character, Freddy Krueger, is a ghost and serial killer who kills teenagers. He murders his victims severely in their dreams, which causes them to die in a similar ugly manner in real life.

Before Freddy Krueger’s death, he was burned alive by the parents of his victims after his release from jail. Then, in the actual time of the movie, Freddy lived as a ghost with a burnt face. The movie became an immediate success at the box office, and Englund later reprised the role in other movies. Thus, he became one of the legends of the horror genre across different generations.

Nevertheless, Englund’s recent appearance now makes it difficult to think he would ever appear in a scary movie or even play the role of the villain. He has appeared in other movies over the years, but according to him, he does not consider himself to be an icon. “Maybe Freddy Krueger is, but I am not.” Instead, he considers himself to be just an actor who enjoys luck.

When asked if he could reprise the role again, the 77-year-old said he was too old for the demands of the character and would not be able to fight as expected.
