Shannen Doherty’s passing was followed by a series of tributes and recollections of her legacy from co-stars, friends, family, and bosses. Heathers producer Denise Di Novi had some spectacular remarks about the late actress, who played Heather Duke in the movie.
Denise recalled how Shannen gave a stunning delivery of the script, which was a contrast from the movies she was used to, and her job as a broadcast TV personality at the time. There was none other fitting for the role than Shannen, who landed the gig without dispute.
Shannen had a big personality since her teen years
Shannen was in her mid-teen years when she scored her role as Heather Duke in the 1988 film, and Denise recalled how much of a commanding presence she had. In the filmmaker’s words, Heather was like a little bulldozer and a tiny spitfire.

It is no surprise she grew into an iconic actress who some people mistook as difficult to work with. She did have fallouts with a few of her colleagues, including Jennie Garth from Beverly Hills, 90210, and Alyssa Milano from Charmed, both of whom she specifically banned from attending her funeral.
More tributes for Shannen
It has been nearly a month since Shannen died from breast cancer, the news preceding numerous tributes from loved ones and fellow celebrities like Viola Davis, Katie Couric, Olivia Munn, and Lisanne Falk, who made a lengthy Instagram post about her alongside a photo from the set of Heathers.

Lisanne admitted that they were not friends as they had never interacted since their time on set about four decades ago. However, she admitted to being inspired by Shannen’s courage and genuineness, which she portrayed on her podcast. “May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, Shannen. You always had the balls, didn’t you?” she wrote.
