Jurassic World is back with its seventh installment, Jurassic World rebirth, after the 2022 release Jurassic World: Locust Invasion was met with negative reviews, though financially successful. While the previous movie centers on dangerous genetically engineered locusts destroying crops across the United States, the trailer of Jurassic World Rebirth shows the island that John Hammond and his crew reserved for extremely dangerous dinosaurs that the park could not accommodate. Knowing that the less dangerous creatures can also be a terror in their own way, fans are curious as to how horrific the dinosaur-infested island might be.
Jurassic World Rebirth might just beat Jurassic World Dominion, as the teaser alone looks promising. The upcoming movie will premiere in July, featuring stars like Scarlett Johansson playing Zora Bennett and Bridgeton’s Jonathan Bailey as paleontologist Dr Henry Loomis. Jurassic World Rebirth is about an extraction team tasked with collecting dinosaur DNA, however, their mission turns into something much more scary as the team come across a family whose boat got overturned by the aquatic dinosaurs. They were stranded on this dangerous island on which a secret research facility was built for Jurassic Park.
What to expect from ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ following the trailer
According to the movie summary, the team is out looking for dinosaur DNA, which is said to be the key to a drug that will save lives in the healthcare sector. “The planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived,” they described, adding that the three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold the special DNA. Though touted as the last of the Jurassic World trilogy, producer Frank Marshall says Jurassic World Rebirth is the start of another era.
Unlike Jurassic World Dominion, which saw humans and dinosaurs coexist, this much-anticipated film sees a greater divide as the team finds mutant species and a variety of horrifying monsters on the island. Watching the trailer, one cannot get past one particular creature, which director Gareth Edwards says is a mix of Rancor from Star Wars, Xenomorph H.R Giger from Alien, and the usual Jurassic T Rex. He told Vanity Fair that the point is to go all in when making such scary creatures, that is, taking features off your favorite monsters from other films and books,l and putting them together.
Fans react to ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ trailer
Upon release, the Jurassic World Rebirth trailer got the internet talking as fans of the franchise shared their thoughts. “The new ‘mutant-mistake’ too dangerous for Jurassic Park from ‘Jurassic World Rebirth.’ This is currently believed to be a failed attempt at making a T. rex,” someone argued, but another responded saying, “Jurassic park/world has never been about realism or accuracy that has never been the point of these movies accurate dinosaurs would only be a bonus…this sounds like it fits the ACTUAL themes of genetic engineering and irresponsible science.”
Some expressed admiration for Bailey, while others admitted they would only be watching because of Scarlet and were impressed by the fact that the lead is a woman. “Like the dinosaurs, I too wish to devour Jonathan Bailey in his cute little glasses,” a cheeky X user quipped alongside a photo of the actor. Jurassic World Rebirth was not spared from criticism either, as an X user shared a yawning GIF with the caption, “I don’t understand the #JurassicWorldRebirth trailer. They’re advertising the movie as a new era when really it’s just the previous era all over again, putting the characters back on that damn island for the umpteenth time. I’ll have to see it to review it, but I’d really love to be done with these movies atp. The last two especially were just awful.”
