Netflix recently announced plans to reboot Little House on the Prairie, sparking excitement and curiosity among longtime fans. The original 1970s series, based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books, became a beloved classic with its heartfelt storytelling about life in a small frontier town.
The show followed the Ingalls family as they navigated the challenges of 19th-century pioneer life, earning multiple awards and etching its place in TV history. While the reboot is in development, many wonder how it will compare to the original and if familiar faces will make an appearance.
The ‘Little House on the Prairie’ reboot is not using the original cast
Alison Arngrim, who played the mischievous Nellie Oleson, recently revealed that none of the original cast members have been invited to participate in Netflix’s version. This revival will focus on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s original stories, leaving out characters that were created specifically for TV.
That means fan favorites like Doc Baker and Miss Beadle will not be returning, and so far, none of the original actors have even been asked to make a cameo. Regardless, Arngrim is yet to rule out the possibility of joining and joked about being finally old enough to play Mrs. Oleson and would gladly take on the role if given the chance.
The original cast of ‘Little House on the Prairie’ all had positive reactions to the announcement
Even though they might not be a part of the reboot, the original cast of Little House has only good things to say about Netflix’s move. They believe the show’s timeless themes will still resonate with audiences, even with a fresh approach.
Most of them are simply grateful that Little House on the Prairie continues to have a lasting impact. They hope Netflix’s adaptation will do justice to the books while bringing something fresh to the story. While longtime fans may miss seeing familiar faces, their excitement shows support for the next chapter of Little House on the Prairie.
