Tom Hanks became a father in 1977 with the birth of his first son, Colin, whom he shares with his first wife Samantha Lewes. Next came Elizabeth, who is Tom’s only daughter with two younger half-brothers from his next and current marriage to Rita Wilson.
Elizabeth Hanks got into the spotlight quite early in life as she appeared in Forrest Gump and That Thing You Do! with her dad but as an extra. While an acting career seemed likely, Elizabeth focused on a different path and now prefers a private life.
What does Tom Hanks’ daughter do?
Elizabeth graduated from Vassar College, after which she interned at Vanity Fair with Graydon Carter as the editor at the time. Her writing career flourished under the pen name E.A, and she has written for publications like TIME, The New York Times, The Guardian, and Huffington Post.
She even wrote the piece for Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird movie of 2017, which was set in Sacramento, where Elizabeth grew up. The 42-year-old titled the essay “Notes On Native Daughters,” saying it was by Sacramento girls about Sacramento girls. She even shared the snippet on her Instagram.

Elizabeth Hanks enjoys life outside the public eye
Elizabeth does not look forward to life in public, and although she occasionally attends star-studded events with her family, her life is quite private. She has had some highlights regardless, like when she posted a childhood photo featuring Paris and Nicky Hilton.
The post got over a thousand likes, and she simply intended to brighten her followers’ day with her adorable toddler photo. She kept her comments section restricted, but her fans must have loved it. Elizabeth was set to publish her first children’s novel, Piper Peregrine Vs. The Consortium For Better Thinking last year, however no news of its release was posted to her social media. She also lent her voice to the Los Angeles fire disaster and the LGBTQ+ community following the start of the new administration in the US.
