It has been five decades since Erin Murphy starred as Tabitha in the ‘60s show Bewitched, alongside her twin sister Diane. Now one of the few surviving cast members, she recently granted an interview where she shared her thoughts on which of her costars played Darrin better.
The 60-year-old also talked about her late TV family, Elizabeth Montgomery, and Agnes Moorehead, noting that they grew close outside of work. After working on the eight-season show, Erin explored other industry scopes like directing, teaching, and even styling.
Erin Murphy shares her thoughts about her ‘Bewitched’ costars
She addressed the longstanding debate about who played her TV dad the best between Dick York and Dick Sargent, who took over after the former’s back injury in 1969. She admitted to loving them both but deems York the more fitting Darrin.
They were close outside of filming, and she commended York for keeping in touch for years after the show finale. Erin spent much of her childhood on the show but gained another mother figure in Elizabeth and a grandmother in Agnes.
Life after ‘Bewitched’
After Bewitched, Erin focused on her education, graduating from El Toro High School in Lake Forest, California about a decade later. She appeared in countless commercials and campaigns and explored TV show hosting with the likes of Fox Reality Channel, TVGasm.com and E! News.
Erin has proven to be multitalented in her post-Bewitched years, having also published a few books and articles on fashion and beauty. She is a dedicated fundraiser for charity organizations focused on autistic children, as one of her children suffers from the condition. The twice-divorced mother of six owns Erin Murphy Knits, which produces eco-friendly alpaca wear made by hand.
