Cynthia Rhodes is renowned for her role as Penny in Dirty Dancing back in the ‘80s when she starred alongside Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. She was a dance instructor to Swayze’s character Johnny and went on to appear in similarly themed movies like Flashdance, and Staying Alive, and Sci-fi action Runaway.
After her brief Hollywood run, Cynthia Rhodes left the spotlight to focus on her family with songwriter Marx Richard. Decades later, fans now remember the former actress as her TikTok account makes waves, proving she is doing just fine.
Cynthia Rhodes has aged gracefully
Rhodes’ appearance in her sixties has fans impressed, as she has maintained her youthfulness over the years. They left comments on her social media content, praising her looks and raving with nostalgia from the ‘80s. “Most underrated singer, dancer, actress of all time!!!” someone said with a heart emoji.
Another noted that she deserved way more recognition than she got for her work, while someone else recalled being so inspired by her to become a dancer. “Wow! She looks completely different now. Still beautiful but nothing like her youth,” a stunned TikTok user gushed.
Why did Cynthia Rhodes leave Hollywood?
Rhodes got married to her much younger husband, Marx, in 1989, after four years of friendship and dating. Soon after, they had three children, Brandon, Lucas and Jesse, and Rhode had to give up her budding career to raise them.
The couple have now divorced, and although they have their reasons private, Marx admitted to loving and respecting Rhodes still. Shortly after their split, he praised her for being an incredible mother to their kids, noting that he was lucky to be married to her.
