Jenna Bush Hager recently got to enjoy a comfortable, meaningful dinner with her sister Barbara as well as their parents Laura and former President George W. Bush. Not only was it for a special occasion, it was also the first time the full quartet has gotten to have a dinner like this in ten years.
The start of November marks a meaningful time for the Bush family; former First Lady Laura Bush was born on November 4, 1946, and married George W. Bush on November 5 in ’77. This recent family dinner, therefore, was a chance to celebrate several meaningful milestones.
Jenna Bush Hager celebrates enjoying a rare family dinner with her sister and parents
On Monday’s episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna, Jenna shared details of her recent dinner with sister Barbara and parents Laura and George Bush. “We went to dinner just the four of us and what we realized is, I don’t think we’ve been just the four of us in almost 20 years,” she shared with her co-host Hoda Kotb.

But who could miss celebrating Laura’s 77th birthday and her 46th anniversary to George? It was a doubly special occasion that served to break their dry spell of family dinners, which, Jenna clarified, had lasted closer to “a decade” in actuality.

Jenna also took to social media to celebrate her mother, along with the quality time she enjoyed with her sister at dinner. “Happiest birthday to our darling mama!” she cheered on an Instagram post featuring a photo of the presidential family. “We so happy to get to spend the night with you just the four of us! We love you so! @laurawbush AND happiest 46 years to our parents. Love you both!”
Laura was all too happy to enjoy dinner with her two daughters and said as much in a post of her own. “My birthday was made all the more special by a visit from our girls!” she said on Instagram, before directing followers to their new book, Love Comes First, in which “two little girls wish on a star for their family to grow, which is what my own wish was as a child.”
Pregnancy struggles has been a common battle for both Laura and Jenna. “Infertility has run on my mom’s side of the family forever,” Jenna shared on TODAY. After five years of marriage, Laura and Bush reached out to an adoption agency. On the same day they heard back from the agency, they learned Laura was pregnant with twins – who would be Jenna and Barbara.
Today, Barbara, who also struggled to get pregnant, is the mother of a daughter named Cora, born in September 2021, and Jenna has three children: Mila, 10, Poppy, 7, and Hal, 4. Hopefully, there will be many more family dinners where that came from!
