Bruce Willis’ ex-wife, Demi Moore, is currently rumored to be devastated as Bruce no longer recognizes her. The ex-lovers share three daughters — Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, whom they had before their divorce in 1998.
Although his battle with Frontotemporal Dementia is said to have worsened, Bruce still effortlessly remembers his current wife, Emma Hemming, and their two girls — Mabel and Evelyn. A close source revealed Demi visited Bruce after her summer trip to Italy, but was disappointed he had forgotten who she was.
Bruce’s health is declining
Demi was in touch with her ex-husband’s family, including Emma, but was unaware that his health was worsening with severe cognitive decline, personality changes, mood swings, and aggression. “Demi could tell he really didn’t recognize her,” the insider said.

Now retired from acting, Bruce’s speech and language skills have declined as well. Last month, Moonlighting creator Gordon Glenn Caron told The New York Post that his friend is no longer “totally verbal” and only recognizes him for the first few moments of their conversations. “All those language skills are no longer available to him, and yet he’s still Bruce,” he said. “When you’re with him, you know that he’s Bruce, and you’re grateful that he’s there… but the joie de vivre is gone.”
Bruce still recognizes his immediate family
Bruce’s memory might be failing, but he still knows his immediate family, as well as his granddaughter, Lou. The source reported that the Die Hard actor “expresses joy” whenever Rumer visits with the new baby, whom he first met when she was two months old in June. “His sweetness and love for her was so pure and beautiful. Papa, I’m so lucky to have you, and so is Lou,” Rumer wrote to him on Father’s Day.
In an interview on the Today show, Emma detailed how hard it was watching her lover decline behaviorally and health-wise. “It’s hard on the person diagnosed; it’s also hard on the family. When they say this is a family disease, it really is,” she said, also noting it is “hard to know” if Bruce is even aware of his illness.
