Kevin Bacon has recently revealed that even though he and his wife have been married for a very long time, he does not think he is in the best position to give relationship advice. The actor appeared as a guest on a Thursday episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live and disclosed that this year makes 35 years since he and his wife have been married.
“That’s a lot of years,” he said on the show. “People feel a tremendous amount of excitement. Everybody wants to ask us about the secret [to a long-lasting marriage], which I absolutely refuse to answer.”

The 64-year-old then proceeded to share some relationship tips. “If I was to give some advice,” he told host Jimmy Kimmel. “I would say the one thing you don’t want to do is take a celebrity’s advice on how to stay married.”
This is not the first time Bacon is shying away from letting out the secret of a lasting marriage. “That’s a question I refuse to answer anymore, but there are a few things you don’t want to do if you want a long marriage,” the actor stated in an interview with Closer Weekly in 2017. “One is to leave the toilet seat up, and another is to say, ‘I told you so.'”
Kevin Bacon reflects on his first time as a father
Bacon revealed to Kimmel that his wife became pregnant while they were on their honeymoon and neither of them had any experience with raising a child. “We got pregnant on the honeymoon. She was 23 and I was 30,” he shared. “When we had our son, Trav, we were here in L.A… We didn’t know anything. We knew nothing about raising a kid. I feel like we were children ourselves.”
The 64-year-old also shared a terrible moment when he mistakenly left his 4-day-old child in a locked car. “We had rented a car… I was scattered, I wasn’t really thinking… pulled up to the valet at the hotel, jumped out of the car, slammed the door, car still running, keys in the car, windows up, baby’s still in the car,” he recalled. “To say I lost my sh– is an understatement.”
However, the baby was rescued by the valet who wrapped a towel around his fist and then punched through the car window.
