‘Indiana Jones’ Screenwriter Confesses A Huge Mistake That Made It In A Film

Indiana Jones screenwriter talks about mistake in the film

Indiana Jones swings back into theaters next summer for the 5th movie in the franchise. Many fans are jokingly calling it the 4th movie instead because they like to pretend that the actual 4th movie didn’t happen. Even one of the screenwriters admitted a mistake in that one.

Screenwriter David Koepp, who is responsible for Indiana Jones scripts and Jurassic Park, didn’t like the UFO storyline. He actually tried to change it and wanted to try another storyline instead, one that he thinks fans would have actually liked.

David explained, “I was never happy with the idea. When I came on, I tried to convince [director Steven Spielberg and franchise co-creator George Lucas] to change it – I had this other idea. They didn’t want to change it. I’m not saying mine would’ve been better, but I think that a lot of the pushback that movie got, in a larger sense aside from little things people might not have liked – that were too silly or whatever – the larger one was that [fans said] ‘We don’t feel like aliens should’ve been in an Indiana Jones movie.’ Fair enough, in retrospect, you’re probably right [laughs].”

Hopefully, the franchise will make things right with fans with the 5th film. Not much is known about the plot of the movie, which comes out in June 2023. Photos revealed do show a parade celebrating the return of Moon Landing astronauts, so the film may take place in 1969 or involve some kind of time travel.

What did you think about the 4th film? Are you excited about the next new movie? It will likely be Harrison Ford’s final time playing his iconic character.
